William D. Turkington, Sr. 86 of here died on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Born in Washington, DC on Sept. 17, 1928, he was the son of the late Thomas J. Turkington and Juanita Jean Young Turkington. Bill was an avid golfer who attended Walker Memorial Church of God in Princess Anne. He had worked at the former Dresser industries for 30 years. Mr. Turkington had served his country in the US Navy and retired from the Army National Guard in Salisbury after 20 years of service. Bill was a member of Manokin Lodge No 106 AF & AM in Princess Anne.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Hazel Bozman Turkington of Fruitland, three daughters, Bonnie Ward of Seaford, Rebecca West of Delmar and Nancy Brady of Hebron, his brother, Paul Turkington of Easton, 7 grandchildren and a 8 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. A late son was William David Turkington, Jr. and atwo lategrandsons were Douglas Walton and Jared West.
A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne where friends may call from 1:00 to 2;00 PM. Officiating will be the Rev. Tim Shawyer and Rev. Harvey Tyler. A Masonic memorial service will be held during the service. Interment with Military Honors will be in St. Peters United Methodist Cemetery in Oriole.
