Rev. William Maxwell Hankins, 85, of Princess Anne passed away October 27, 2014, at Aurora Senior Living in Princess Anne. Born September 30, 1929, in Upland, PA, he was the son of the late Frank W. and Mary T. Hankins of Smyrna, Delaware. After graduating from the King's College and Temple University School of Theology, Rev. Hankins served many churches, primarily on the Delmarva Peninsula for 50 years. He enjoyed preparing and sharing his sermons, Bible studies, visiting in homes, hospitals, nursing homes, and any where else his help was needed. He took the time to work with youth, and was a good husband, father, and grandfather. To sum up his life in two words: He served! First God, then others.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jessie Taylor Hankins, a daughter, Judith Hankins Light and husband Mark, of Myerstown, PA, a son Maxwell Hankins and wife Deborah, of Escondido, CA, three brothers, David Hankins and wife Jean, of Milford, DE, Paul Hankins and wife Betty Jo, of Jacksonville, FL, and Stephen Hankins and wife Elizabeth of Bear, DE. Also Surviving are eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15th. at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Wenona. The Rev. David Webster will officiate. Private Interment was held earlier in the Church Cemetery.
