Obituary

Westover, MD- William "Keith" Davis, 69, of Westover went home to the Lord on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. Born and raised in Princess Anne, he was the son of the late Elisha and Margaret Ann Davis.

Keith would tell you that the best decision he made in life was marrying his wife Pat. They were married for 40 years and had two daughters, Kolby and Kortney. Together, the four of them shared decades of memories including dozens of vacations, a passion for watching movies and quizzing each other on movie lines, and he coached both daughters and dozens of others for 11 years in softball through Somerset County Parks and Rec. Later in life he gained his sons, Nathan and Kearon when his girls got married.

Keith made a career out of being a safety inspector and worked his way up to Assistant Chief with MOSH, however he would tell you his favorite job besides being a devoted husband and father, was helping to provide daycare to his 8 grandchildren after his retirement in 2011. Nearly every Friday night his grandchildren spent the night at his house, where he slept on the sofa so that they could have the bed. Kamryn, Kennedy, Jase, Rowan, Reld, Ava, Brooks and Brett rarely heard "no" from Poppop Keith and he loved showing up for games or events to cheer them on.

Friends of Keith knew he loved to go to Peaky's, hunt, fish, watch baseball, football, and college basketball, but most of all he loved to play fast pitch softball. He was proud to be a member of Compass Church in Salisbury and was often in attendance at their Monday night Bible studies and outreaches.

While the past few years for Keith were hard, he didn't let those challenges stop him from glorifying God who strengthened him.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, his niece whom he loved dearly, Tiffany Howard, and his father-in-law Pete Howard. Besides his wife, daughters, sons, and grandchildren, he is survived by his mother-in-law Brenda Howard, his brother Scott Davis (Gail), his brother-in-law Jeff (Denise), nieces and nephew Jesse, Jenny, and Lauren (Jon), and cousins Dick Scott (Christy) and Sug, Chris (Linda), and JR (Sue).

The last thing Keith did on this side of heaven was hold his wife and girls and told them he loved them. They never left his side until he was in the arms of Jesus. He fought the good fight; he finished the race; he kept the faith. Undoubtedly, he is now trying to teach Jesus how to pitch a softball.
