Obituary

Princess Anne - William Larry "Butch" Thomas passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025 at Manokin Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation center due to complications from a stroke. He was born on November 8, 1952 and he was a beloved husband, father, Pop Pop, son, and brother.

Butch loved his family and friends and loved being a waterman. He worked on several oystering skipjacks and had a boat, "Miss Ashley," that he used for crabbing. He also worked at C.J. Langenfelder & Son, Inc. and was co-owner of S&B Seafood, a crab shedding operation with his good friend Stevie Webster.

He was a past member of the Deal Island/Chance Lions Club where he helped each year with Labor Day festivities and enjoyed running the boat docking contest.

He graduated from Washington High School in 1970. He was an avid sports fan, who loved watching all sports, especially the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Capitals. Butch played fast pitch softball for Peaky's and enjoyed golfing with friends.

Butch is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" Thomas, daughter, Ashley Walters (Billy), son, Mark Thomas (Shannon) and four grandsons, Carter & Noah Thomas, Reagan & Colin Walters. He is also survived by his mother, Frances "Frankie" Thomas, and brothers Barry Thomas (Kathy), Daniel "Bucky" Thomas (Kerry), Kevin "KK" Thomas (Josette), Hal Thomas (Kathy Jo), and Steve Thomas (Kim). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Raymond Thomas, nephew Stevie Thomas, nieces Allison Thomas & Mallory Thomas.

A celebration of life service will be held at Hinman Funeral Home on March 28th at 1pm. A visitation will be held from 11:00am-1:00pm. Pastors David Webster & Mark Thomas will be officiating.
