William Harold Bunting, Sr.,77, formerly of Williamstown, NJ, and Snow Hill, MD, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2016, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake, in Salisbury, MD.
William, known as "Bill", was married 54 years to Margaret Bunting, who preceded him in death in 2014. He is survived by his son William H. Bunting, Jr. of Baltimore, MD; step-sons Michael Kassab of Sicklerville, NJ, and Louis Kassab (Marie) of Franklinville, NJ. Grandchildren include Kaitlyn Bunting, Alexandria Kassab, Diane Kassab, Jeanine Kassab, and Joshua Kassab. Siblings include Pearl Edmondson of Baltimore, MD, Betty Huskins of Nebo, NC, and Juanita "Faye" Hoffman and her husband Robert "Allen" Hoffman of Wenona, MD. Faye and Allen were his daily caregivers until his death. He also leaves his best friend William "Rudy" Wright of Snow Hill, MD, and several nieces and nephews.
Bill graduated from Snow Hill High School in 1955 and attended several Community Colleges in NJ, where he received certificates in Business and Finance.
Bill was in the US Navy for 27 years, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer while serving aboard the USS Dewey. He received several services awards, including a Bronze Star. He also served two Tours in Vietnam.
Bill worked for the Cherry Hill Board of Education and the Monroe Township Board of Education, both in NJ, as a mechanic and transportation coordinator from 1975 - 1982. He retired from the Worcester County Board of Education in Newark, MD, in 2011.
Bill was a member of the Church of God in Chance, MD, where services will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at 1:00 PM. A 12:00 viewing will be held prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Snow Hill Christian Church Cemetery in Snow Hill, MD. Pastor Terri Barnes will officiate..
