Virginia Elizabeth Selby Benson, 98, of Eden, died Sunday Feb. 26th. at the Salisbury Nursing Home. She was born on November 16, 1913 in Ocran, Va. She was the daughter of the late William Johnson Selby and Mary Ellen Hitzelberger Selby. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred E. Benson in 1992, and her sister, Mary A. Lowman, in 2009.
Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker and loved gardening and going camping with her husband in thier travel trailer to the Skyline Drive and Shad Landing State Park. She was a member of the Friendship United Methodist Church in West Post
Office, the former Kings Creek Homemakers Group, and the Ladies Aide at Mt. Olive Church in Eden.
She is survived by her three children, Dolores Crismond and her husband Allan of Princess Anne, Phillip Benson and his wife Pat of Salisbury, and David Benson and his wife Betty of Eden. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Daniel Crismond and his wife Barbara of Pocomoke, Robert Benson and his wife Crystal of Laurel, Del., Janice Sterling and her husband Marty of Valrico, Florida, Michael Benson of Yorktown, Va. Elaine Schneider and her husband Bill of Holly Springs, N. C., and Karen Paul and her husband Kevin of Reading, Mass.; seven great-grandchildren, Autumn Crismond, Ryan Benson, Marty and Jordon Sterling, Sean Benson, and Hannah and Rachel Schneider; two step-grandchildren, Rachel and Bethany Todd, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A graveside service will be held at the Beechwood Cemetery in Princess Anne on Friday March 2nd., at 2:00 PM. Pastor Larry Reid will officiate.
