Victor was a 1965 graduate from Georgetown High School. Throughout high school, Victor was a member of Georgetown's football and wrestling team where he was the 2-time Delaware State Wrestling Champion under the guidance of Coach Herman Bastianelli. Victor always acknowledged Bastianelli as a special person who was instrumental in turning his life around at an early age.
He started his working career by working in the family shoe business- Bata Shoe Co. Knowing this was not his lifelong ambition, Vic entered x-ray school and graduated from Peninsula School of Radiology in 1973. After graduation, he began working for the State of Maryland at The Holly Center as an x-ray technician. He later entered into the field of emergency medicine as a paramedic and was employed by the City of Salisbury. Vic went back to his first love which was x-ray and retired in 2014 from Peninsula Orthopaedic Associates.
Victor was a lifetime member of the Parsonsburg Volunteer Fire Department where he served for 43 years. He received numerous awards for his service and in later years, he became a member of the State of Maryland Fire Police under the supervision of the Wicomico Sheriffs Department. Vic also loved to volunteer and one of his greatest passions was volunteering with The Perdue Operation Teddy Bear Run which he participated in for over 20 years.
Victor will always be remembered for his infectious smile, sense of humor, and outspoken manner. He enjoyed baseball, nascar, fishing & hunting, and college wrestling. In later years he served as a referee for many of the local wrestling tournaments. Most of all Victor enjoyed spending time with his family and loved ones especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Pizzaia and sister, Donna Parker of Laurel, MD. Victor is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dianne Pizzaia, daughter and son in law, Christina and Alex Morris of Trappe, MD, son and daughter in law, Richard and Jessica Pizzaia of Laurel, DE.
