Nanticoke - Dr. Stephen H. Laffey died on October 22, 2023 at the age of 77. Steve was born in Washington DC to William and Jane Laffey on February 3, 1946.

Steve graduated from Haverford College in 1968, and Hahnemann Medical College in 1972. After graduating he joined the Navy serving overseas. His residency in Emergency Medicine was at Hershey Medical Center 1974-1977. Steve then came to the Eastern Shore, working in the Emergency Room at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. He left PRMC to become part of the faculty teaching Emergency Medicine at Hershey Medical Center.

In the mid-eighties, Steve and his wife Carolyn opened a Family Medicine Practice in Nanticoke. When the medical office was destroyed by lightning in 2000, Steve changed direction and went to Seminary in preparation for the ministry, He served in Girdletree and Mt Vernon before retiring in Nanticoke.

Carolyn and Steve called Nanticoke home for more than 40 years. Although they spent time away, their hearts were always here.

Carol and Steve were members of the Methodist Church in Nanticoke where he was a long-time member of the choir.

Steve is survived by his sister, Karen, in-laws, Shirley (Hal), Joan (Jim), John and many good friends. He will be remembered as a wonderful doctor, pastor, and friend. And, as many would agree, a great hugger!
