Sidney Thomas Smack, 85, of Salisbury, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 25, 2026 at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional.

He was born February 18, 1941, in Salisbury, MD to Peter Linwood Smack and Pearl Washburn Smack.

A carpenter by trade, he was a US Army veteran stationed in Vietnam for one year in 1967. He was proud of his military service to his country. He loved fishing, hunting, and running his rabbit dogs.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Darlene Whitt Smack; daughter, Christina “Tina” Gillespie and husband Samuel “Skip”; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Doris Norman, June White, Peggy Horner, Mary Long, Sonny “Ed” Smack, David Smack, and Linwood “Jr” Smack, and his best friend, Danny Pusey.

A graveside memorial service with military honors will be Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 11 AM at Beechwood Cemetery in Princess Anne. Pastor Gilberto Vargas will officiate.
