Obituary






Roy Mollett, 92 of Salisbury, MD. died peacefully Monday, September 24, 2012, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born on December 19, 1919, in Portland OR. to the late Roy Henry and Elizabeth Small Mollett. He was a descendant of a pioneer family who crossed the plains in 1853 from Independence, MO. The family settled on a land claim in the Waldo Hills near Silverton,OR.
Roy graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School in Portland, OR. He enlisted in the US Army in December of 1942 and served in the Signal Radar Maintenance Unit at Fort Story, VA. He was a Tech Sergent and was honorably discharged in 1946. Roy worked for the Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Company for 40 years, was a Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Pioneer, a long-time member of the Savage Memorial Presbyterian Church in Portland,OR, and a member of Wicomico Post 64 of the American Legion in Salisbury, MD.
He was an avid boater and fisherman in Oregon and on the chesapeake Bay, enjoyed attending Folk Heroes' concerts ( a folk, Celtic and acoustic group in salisbury, MD), relished breakfast every Saturday morning at Denny's, and loved playing checkers with his buddy, Mitch, and his care-giver, Craig.
He is survived by his children, Linda Armitage and husband, Bob of Maumelle, AR, Ted Mollett and wife, Joan, of Princess Anne, MD,Marsha Mollett of Vernonia, OR, and Jim Rudd of Portland, OR: grandchildren, Brad Janes and fiancee, Cydney Brown, Matt Janes and wife, Chrissy, and Sarah Mollett-Gaumer and husband, Brian Gaumer: a great-grandchild, Brandon Janes; his beloved care-givers, Laura Daugherty, Sharon Holbrook, and Craig Evans; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 67 years, Eileen Frommelt Mollett; his three sisters, Nancy, Louise and Charlotte, and brother, Don.
A memorial service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at the Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne, MD, with the Rev. Tony Johnson officiating.
