Robyn Dryden Benton, 43, of Chance, MD was welcomed into heaven on Monday, February 20, 2017. She was born on October 29, 1973 to George "Robert" Dryden and Mattie White Dryden.
Robyn was a 1991 graduate of Washington High School and a 1997 graduate of Wor-Wic Community College Nursing. She worked at McCready Hospital for 18 years and Delmarva Surgery Center part-time. Robyn loved being an RN working in the Med-Surg field.
Robyn was a member of Antioch Methodist Church, American Legion Post 94 and a parent in a place very important to her heart, Beach Bounders Gymnastics in Fruitland, MD. Robyn was selected as the February 2015 recipient of McCready's PEARLS recognition program as well as Nurse of The Year 2015.
In addition to her parents she is survived by the love of her life, Stephen Benton, whom she married on December 19, 1998; and their twin daughters Kayla and Kylie; brother Bobby Dryden and wife Karen. Her father-n-law Sonny Benton; brother-n-laws Daniel Benton and Andrew Benton; sister-n-law Deborah Benton. Also two Uncles – Jim White, Larry White and wife Paula; 3 Aunts – Jane Brown, Carnita Powell and husband Rob, Maria Brittingham and husband Dean. Many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and co-workers.
Preceding her in passing were her mother-n-law Brenda Ann Benton; maternal grandparents Jim and Pearl White and paternal grandparents George W. Dryden, Grace "Peggy" and Charlie Figgs; paternal aunt Pam Purnell.
While in Las Vegas for the Invitational National Elite Qualifier 2017 gymnastics meet, with her mother and twins, Robyn was able to enjoy some things on her list such as the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam.
Robyn had a condition called "AVM" Arteriovenous Malformation. She was rushed to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center where she lived one week. Her husband Stevie, brother-n-law Danny Benton and sister-n-law Karen Dryden were by her bedside when she passed.
The family would like to give a special Thank You to Dr. Vijay Karabunathan and Marshalann Taylor for their medical expertise and tremendous support during this process. Many family, friends and community are thanked as well for their prayers and support for the Benton and Dryden family.
A viewing will be held at Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne, MD on March 2, 2017 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Robyn's homecoming service will be Friday, March 3, 2017 at 2pm at Rock Creek Church in Chance, MD. Officiators will be Rev. David Webster and Rev. Bob Daniels. Graveside service will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Wenona, MD. A gathering of family and friends will take place at St. Paul's UMC after the service.
