Richard "Dick" Harry Keenan, 82, died July 3, 2011, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.
Born May 7, 1929, in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Harry W. Keenan and Mary Lankford Keenan. He graduated from Washington High School and attended Salisbury State Teachers College.
He joined his father in farming and later took over the family farm. Dick had an extreme passion and love for farming until his last days.
He was a member of Holly Grove Mennonite Church in Westover. Dick was a charter member of the Somerset Ruritan Club. He was a member of the Somerset County Farm Bureau. He received several awards for being an outstanding conservation farmer.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Dottie Lord; a son, Kevin Keenan, and his wife, Irena, a daughter, Karen Keenan Good, and her husband, Keith, all of Westover; two granddaughters, Katie Good Eby, and her husband, Matt, of Pocomoke and Kristen Good of Westover, and two great-granddaughters, Mackenzie and Katelyn Eby of Pocomoke. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Edward "Ned Keenan.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 pm at Holly Grove Mennonite Church in Westover, MD where friends and family may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Will Shertzer will officiate. Interment will be in Beechwood Cemetery in Princess Anne.
