Reginald Morris Layfield, 71, went home to be with his heavenly father on Sunday, December 1, 2013. Born in Salisbury on September 5, 1942, he was the son of Helen "Heidi" Layfield and the Late Morris "Sunshine" Layfield. He was better known to his family and friends as "Reggie." He was a farmer and was selected as the Outstanding Farmer of the year for Somerset Count by the Young Farmers of Somerset County. He was also Farmer of the year for Somerset County Soil Conservation District. Reggie raised one cow which gave birth to triplets and he was featured in a local farm magazine. He was a member of the Salisbury Moose Lodge 654 in Salisbury.
He leaves behind his devoted and loving wife of 40 years, Mary Anne Layfield. Daughters, Tracy Layfield of Baltimore, Susan Adams of Savannah, Ga. and Sandra Edelen also of Savannah. He also leaves four Grandchildren, Amanda Rygiel, Ashley Edelen, Robyn Adams, and Sean Adams who was more like a son to Reggie. one Great-grandson Ryland Rygiel, a sister Becky Insley of Salisbury and several nieces and nephews and his best friend, Jimmy Beauchamp.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne The Rev. Tim Shawyer will officiate. Friends may call on Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. Interment will be held in Allen Cemetery in Allen.
