Obituary

Rebecca Darlene Layfield Insley, 77, died on Tuesday February 27,2018. Born in Salisbury
April 4, 1940, she was the daughter of Helen "Heidi" Layfield and the late Morris "Sunshine"
Layfield. She was better known to her family and friends as "Becky". She graduated from
Washington High School in 1957 as salutatorian, graduated from Salisbury Teachers College in
1961, and worked on a Masters Degree in Education in Boston, Massachusetts. Becky grew up
on Layfield Farms in Princess Anne before moving to Salisbury. She was a mathematics school
teacher in the Wicomico County School system for over 38 years and received many awards in
service and perfect attendance.
Becky had a passion for horses her whole life and attended countless horse shows starting in
the 1970s. She participated in C.E.S.H.A. and M.H.S.A. horse show association events and won
many awards over the years with her beloved horses "Schrandy Chiquita" (Cheetah) in the
1970′s and 1980′s, then "Fetch-a-Pail" (Jill) in the 1990′s and finally "J.C. Becker" (JC) in the
2000′s.
Becky is survived by her long time partner of 50+ years, Charles "Ed" Briddell , her mother
Helen "Heidi" Layfield, her son Daryl Layfield Insley of Princess Anne, her niece, Tracy Layfield
of Towson, her granddaughters Amie Prettyman of Princess Anne and Katie Lambertson and
her husband Kenneth of Hampden, Maine, and her great grandchildren, Juliana Campbell,
Adriana Hastings, Dylan Lambertson, and Alison Lambertson. Becky had many friends, two of
which were very special to her, Carol Cotton and Gail Dunkleman. Preceding her in death was
her father, Morris "Sunshine" Layfield, her brother Reginald "Reggie" Layfield, and her daughter
Lorrie Prettyman.
A gathering to celebrate Becky's life will be held on Saturday April 21 ,2018 at the St .Andrews
Parish House on the corner of Washington St and Church St. in Princess Anne MD. Family and
friends please feel free to stop by between 12 -3 PM.
