Obituary

Raymond Nelson Taylor, 94, of Princess Anne, died on January 14th. He was born in Westover, Somerset County, Maryland, and grew up in White Haven, Wicomico County, Maryland, where his father baled and sold marsh grass, which he shipped to Baltimore by two-masted schooners.
In January, 2000, "The Villager" published some of Mr. Taylor's recollections of White Haven in the 1920″s. It was a small town with a one-room school, where steamboats docked at the White Haven wharf and mules pulled plows. His grandparents ran a store where molasses was sold from a large barrel, and eggs were one penny each. His family moved to Princess Anne and he later graduated from Washington High School in 1935 and from Washington College in 1939.
For many years he taught social studies, history, and driver's education at Marion High School and later at Washington High School. He also coached the girls' field ball, basketball, and softball teams at Marion High School.
After his retirement, Mr. Taylor ran a produce stand in Princess Anne and enjoyed the social interaction with his many customers.
He was predeceased by his parents, Eugene W. Taylor and Mary E. Pusey Taylor, two brothers, Marion E. Taylor, Staff Sergeant Russell T. Taylor, and a sister, Irma Taylor Symons.
Surviving Mr. Taylor, are his wife of 71 years, Frances Stout Taylor, and thier four children: Barbara Taylor Hall and her husband Phil, of Fredericksburg, Va.,John Michael Taylor and his wife, Pamela, of Princess Anne, David Allan Taylor and his wife Susan, of Eden, and Carl Raymond Taylor and his wife Beth, of Lawrenceville, GA.
