Perry F. White, Jr.
WENONA-Perry F. White, Jr. 88, of Wenona died Sunday, March 21, 2010 with his family at his side.
Born on Sept. 22, 1921, in Wenona, he was a son of the late Perry Franklin White, Sr. and Annie Parkinson White Hunter.
His wife, Joyce White, who he married Oct. 19, 1942, died March 2, 2009.
Mr. White was a lifetime waterman and owner and captain of the skipjack, America. He was a civil war buff, avid reader and attended St. Pauls United Methodist Church. He was a WWII navy veteran, who served in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theater of Operations.
He is survived by his children, Brenda Jones and husband, Louis Jones of Eden, Perry David White and wife, Marilyn of Wenona, James White and wife, Debbie of Wenona, Joseph White and companion, C.C. of Wenona; ten grandchildren, Tammy, Shannon, Billy, Hunter, Andrew, Louis, Jr., David, Christina, Wendy and Sara; great-grandchildren, James, Jack, Grace, Madison, Olivia, Anna, Hannah, Savanna, Robbie, Lindsey and Emily; a brother, Steve White and wife, Diane of Wenona ; a sister, Clara Mae Brittingham and husband, Tommy of Salisbury and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were a daughter, Anna Phippin; three brothers, Perry W., Phillip and William and four sisters, Pearl, Edna, Hyacinth and Elaine.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Wenona. Friends may call at the church Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday one hour prior to the service. David Webster and Rev. Lloyd Foard will officiate. Interment will be held in the church cemetery.
