IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia Ann
Dryden
December 18, 2021
Chance – Our beloved "Patte" was born on September 1, 1959 and died in the early morning hours on December 18, 2021 from aspiration pneumonia.
The youngest daughter of Mary Frances Whitelock and William Joseph Hastings, Patte grew up in Salisbury with her brother William Hastings and her sister Tessa (Rick) Johnstone. Sisters Angel (Luis) Terol, Stephanie (Jason) McCoy, and Brothers Joe (Janet) and Josh (Alyissa) Hastings grew up in Mardela Springs.
Patte is survived by her son, Bradley Wayne Dryden, grandson Evan Cole Dryden, and godson, Holden Urbantke, fiancé Stevie Mitchell of Mt. Vernon, parents Bruce Whitelock and Shirley Hastings and first husband Bruce Dryden. Both of Patte's parents preceded her in death.
Patte started her career with the United States Postal Service after graduating from Washington High School in 1977. She loved being a federal employee and truly worked hard to go above and beyond for her customers. She was only the second woman to receive full retirement from USPS in the state of Maryland finally calling it quits after 31 years.
Patte was ready for more time "with her boys", traveling with Stevie, getting sunshine either at her mom's pool, the beach or the boat. She loved being outdoors.
A strong patriot, she served with several charities, did tons of fundraisers and community festivals, belonging to the Lioness Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 94 while also attending every game that Brad and Evan played, if it was soccer, basketball, or baseball, she was there.
The words "smile" and "sunshine" come up often when people often speak of Patte, for she was a smiler, a giver, a jokester, a traveler, a friend, a daughter, a sister, a mother, a grandmother, a fiancé, aunt, great aunt, and a mail carrier. She was a lover of cold cokes, sleeves of Oreos, chocolate in all manner and a cancer survivor. Patte was light, love and life in the fullest sense.
