Obituary

Nevette Wesley Muir, 87 of Fairmount died on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield. Born in Upper Fairmount on July, 27, 1929, he was the son of the late Nevette Muir and Irene Parks Muir. Mr. Muir was retired as a Heavy Equipment operator with the Maryland State Highway Administration. Mr. Muir was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Upper Fairmount and belonged to the Methodist Men of the church. A former member of Princess Anne Lions Club, he was one of the founders of the Fairmount Academy Historical Association.
At a time prior to organized youth leagues and recreational facilities, Nevette provided the youth (boys) of his community with the opportunity to play soccer, basketball, softball, and football throughout the years. He coached, encouraged, participated and provided a safe environment for boys to have "fun".
Mr. Muir is survived by his wife, Beatrice Meredith Muir, his children, Nevette W. Muir Jr, (Suzanne) of Salisbury, Wayne H. Muir, (Lisa) of Princess Anne, Michael K. Muir, (Bonnie) of Princess Anne, Charles P. Muir (Deborah) of Salisbury and Danny Nelson, (Mary) of Crisfield. He is also survived by his daughter in law, Donna Muir, stepdaughter Sandra Windsor of Princess Anne, his loving and devoted sister, Janice Webster Webb of Salisbury, his grandchildren, Jennifer Taylor, (Shawn), Caleb Muir, Amanda Bromley (Daniel), Zachary Muir, Mindy Bernhardt (Wes), Michelle Muir, Michael Muir, Jr, Heather Williams (Bobby), Trudi Muir, Mark Nelson and Megan Nelson., his step grandchildren, Christine Koller (Karl), and Tommy Wilson (Darci), as well as several great-grandchildren, great- great grandchildren and nieces and nephews as well as his devoted friends, Sam French and Doug Hall.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elise Layfield Muir; a son, Daniel P. Muir, Sr., his stepdaughter, Linda Wilson, grandchildren Holly Muir and Daniel P. Muir, Jr., and a sister in law, Virginia Layfield, (Banes).
A Funeral service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M.. The Rev. Steve Willing will officiate. Interment will be in the Muir Family Cemetery in Fairmount.
