Nellie Reid Lawrence, 85, of Oriole near Princess Anne, passed away on Monday April 25, 2016 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born on November 9, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Rachel Layton Reid. Nellie was a graduate of the Washington High School Class of 1947 and a member of St. Peters United Methodist Church in Oriole, MD. She worked in the meat department at both Acme and Meatland. She was always giving of herself to support her family and her community. She loved preparing Sunday dinners and being surrounded by her loved ones.
She is survived by her Husband of 67 years, Francis P. Lawrence, of Oriole, a son Reid Lawrence and his wife Vanessa of Princess Anne, five grandchidren, Wendy Kellam (Brian), Melissa Lawrence, Ryan Lawrence (Kathy), C.J. Davenport (Kristen), and Kim Davenport, also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Lauren, Ty, Courtney and Joselynn , a sister Nancy Johnson and a daughter in-law Gayle Lawrence.
In addition to her parents preceding her in death were a son Gary Lawrence, a sister Margaret Layfield, brothers Joe Reid, Louis Reid, Theodore Reid, Harry Reid, Jr. and Richard Reid.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday April 29, 2016, at 2:00 PM at the Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne, MD. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Interment will follow the service in the St. Peters Cemetery, in Oriole. Rev. William Kniceley and Rev. Joanna Hartman will officiate,
