Princess Anne

Obituary

Michael Joseph Staicer, 83, of Princess Anne, Maryland, formerly of Brooklyn, New York, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional.

Born on December 10, 1942, in the Bronx, New York, Michael was the son of the late Joseph and Elsie Smodish Staicer. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kay Jackson Staicer, in 2014. For nearly 25 years, Michael made his home in Princess Anne, where he continued to build meaningful relationships and touch the lives of those around him.

Michael proudly served in the United States Navy and went on to earn both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Pace University. Throughout his life, he was dedicated to his work and took great pride in everything he did. He spent 20 years working at the New York City Blood Bank, followed by 20 years at Group Health Insurance (GHI), and another 20 years at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Salisbury, Maryland. His long and devoted work history reflected his strong work ethic, determination, and love of staying active and connected with others.

A faithful member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury, Michael found joy in his faith and shared his beautiful voice as a member of the church choir. Earlier in life, he served as a Boy Scout Master and was actively involved with the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization, where his kindness and commitment to helping others earned him the honor of being named Big Brother of the Year. He believed in making a difference in the lives of others, and his generosity of spirit was evident in the many ways he gave of himself.

Michael loved running, loved working, and, above all, loved people. He had a special gift for forming friendships and making connections with those he encountered throughout his life. Whether through his work, his church, or his community, he treasured the relationships he built and the people who became part of his journey. He will be remembered as a warm, caring, hardworking man who valued others and left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.

Above all else, Michael's greatest joy was his family. He cherished the time he spent with his sons, held a special closeness with his siblings, and took immense pride in his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. His love for his family was deep and unwavering, and the memories they shared will remain a treasured part of his legacy. Though his passing leaves a space that can never truly be filled, the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Michael is survived by his sons, Nathaniel Staicer (Deneesha White) of Princess Anne and Andrew Staicer of California; step-daughter Rosaland M. Davis, his siblings, Mark Staicer (Brenda) of Ohio, Karen Atkinson (Westly) of Texas, and Jeannie Davis of New York; three grandchildren, Noah Jackson, Jenee Staicer, and Tyler Staicer (Kylanie Bourne); his great-granddaughter, Annalaiya Staicer; and several nieces and nephews.

Michael's life was one of dedication, kindness, service, and love. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, coworkers, church community, and all those whose lives he brightened along the way. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will live on through the many lives he touched and the love he leaves behind.
