Obituary

May Lola Townsend, 102, of Princess Anne, died, Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Manokin Manor Nursing Home in Princess Anne.

Born in St. Michaels, Md. on June 25, 1908, she was a daughter of Edward E. Willey and Lola Victoria Smith Willey. Her husband, Irving J. Townsend, Sr., son, Irving J. Townsend, Jr., granddaughter, Karen Smith and Sister, Eva Carey Coulson also preceded her in death.

May was a homemaker who had formerly worked as a seamstress at the Calloway Shirt Factory.

She is survived by a daughter, Lola V. Smith and her husband Melvin of Seaford; three grandchildren, Stephen Smith and wife Sue of Lewes, Deborah Smith and Sheila Grant, both of Seaford; three great-grandchildren, Robert Mason, Jr. of Seaford, Ashley Gschwandtner and husband James of Laurel and Audrey Grant of Seaford; and a great-great granddaughter, Lillian May Gschwandtner.

A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2pm at Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne, Md. where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. Howard Travers will be officiating. Interment will be held in Washington Cemetery in Shad Point.
