Mt. Vernon – Mary Kathryn Sturgis, affectionately known as Kathy, of Mt. Vernon was born on July 8, 1960 to Wilbur and Mary Emily Nock.
A graduate of Washington High School and Wor-Wic Community College, Kathy went on to a very successful career as a Maryland State Trooper where she was a road trooper and moved up to the criminal investigation division. She retired briefly from MSP while battling and defeating an aggressive form of cancer and returned to spend another 10 years as a crime scene investigator.
In retirement, Kathy enjoyed kayaking, fishing, spending time with family and woodworking. She was also an active member in the community as part of Clarion Call ministries. Kathy was known for her indomitable spirit, unwavering faith, and kind heart. Her personal history inspired those who knew her and she could easily be convinced to tell one or more of her amazing stories.
She was called home to the Lord on August 27, 2021 and leaves behind a loving and loyal husband in Frank Sturgis, a supportive mother in Mary Emily Nock, inseparable siblings in Gordon Nock (with wife Bambi), Melissa Malone (with husband Jason), Emily Snyder (with husband Richard), a devoted son in Josh Webster (with wife Kristin) and a loved granddaughter in Natalie Webster as well as many nieces and a nephew.
A memorial service will be held on September 9, 2021 at 7:00 P.M. at 1st Baptist Church of Princess Anne with a visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Clarion Call Restoration Ministry, PO Box 77, Eden, MD 21822
