Obituary

Mary Lou Pines, age 67, of Princess Anne, MD, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday September 10, 2024 into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  She was surrounded by her loving family.  Mary was born in Baltimore, MD on February 24, 1957, and was the daughter of the late Norman and Shirley Brandt. She is survived by her beloved husband Robert, of 45 years. Other survivors are her three children and their spouses, William Pines and wife Diana of Bel Air, Crystal Miles and husband Claude of Princess Anne, and Gerald Pines and fiancé Daina Gingras of Fairfax; six grandchildren Cadance Miles, Caliana Miles, Christa Pines, Caius Miles, Gracie Pines, and Gideon Pines; her brother Robert Brandt of Baltimore, sisters-in-law Cheryl Brandt and Debbie Ness, brother-in-law Glen Ness;  preceded in death by her brother Gerald Brandt and sister-in-law Wendy Bortner. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as many friends that were like family. She left behind her most precious treasures, her animals.

Mary was a graduate of Perry Hall High School in Baltimore Maryland.  She was a Jill of all trades, there wasn't much that Mary couldn't do or didn't try in her many years in the work force.  She worked on the Railroad as a train engineer, was a veterinarian assistant, and a stable hand at the racetrack in Baltimore Md.  When moving to the Eastern Shore of Maryland, she worked as a mason alongside her husband and supported the business financials for over 40 years, spent years babysitting and substitute teaching when her kids were growing up, worked as a Salisbury Auxiliary Mounted Police officer until their closing, an served as a dental assistant at the Holly Center dental clinic until their closing.  She worked at About Faces Day Spa and Salon for over 10 years as a Spa Concierge until she retired due to illness. She was also an active member and servant in her church, Celebrate Recovery, 4-H club, the Delmarva Driving Club, Equine Council, Laurel Saddle Friends, Relay for Life, Wounded Warriors, and Mount Hermon Plow days.

Mary's greatest passion was horses.  She began to ride at the age of 16, and never stopped until her health diminished.  She loved to trail ride and traveled all over the United States to ride.  She also judged and participated in many horse shows supporting youths' interest in the equine.  She slept, ate, and breathed everything horses.  She dearly loved her dog Bella and took her everywhere she went.  She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at the campground, riding the golf cart around, swimming in the pool, fishing, kayaking, and relaxing by the campfire.  Mary was also an avid hunter with her husband, enjoyed time spent together in the woods every deer and turkey season.

A Celebration of Life services will be held Saturday October 12, 2024 at Walker Memorial Church.  Visitation will be from 11-12pm, and the Service will start at 12pm.  Pastor Tim Shawyer will officiate the service.
