EDEN – Martha Ann Evans Riggin, 88, of Eden passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at her daughters' home in Snow Hill.
Martha was born in Tennessee, one of ten children of the late Arthur G. Evans and Lula Mae Jackson Evans.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Pasquith; and her second husband Buell "Hook" Riggin; brothers Granville, Arthur, Robert and sisters Laura, Virginia, Jessie and Katie. Also preceding her in death was grandson Brian Wodkins and granddaughter Betsy Riggin.
Martha worked in an aircraft manufacturing plant providing parts for the war effort. In later years in addition to raising her six children she worked in shirt factories in Princess Anne, Snow Hill, Fruitland and Salisbury as a seamstress. She enjoyed artwork, flowers, blue grass music, square dancing and most recently putting picture puzzles together at her kitchen table surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her five sons; Russell Wodkins and wife Linda, Robert Pasquith, Wendell Riggin, Weldon Riggin and wife Kathy and Raymond Riggin and wife Teresa; and her daughter, Teresa Owens and husband Sam; brothers Edgar and Tommy Evans; grandchildren, Patricia Annis, Ginny Reed, JoAnne Legacy, Bill Rutter, Jaime Aaron, Robbie Pasquith, Katie Riggin, Annie Riggin, Jessie Riggin, Ray Riggin, Brandon Riggin, Andrew Riggin, and great grandchildren, Shelly Mills, Cory Wodkins, Brian Russell Wodkins, Heather Walker, Nicole and Crystal Gassaway, John and Amanda Pippin, Christine and Benjamin Vogel, Sutton Walton, Weston Riggin and Grace and Adam Rutter; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at the Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne on February 6, 2011 at 2 :00 PM with visitation one hour before the service. Burial will be in the Olivet Christian Cemetery on Meadow Bridge Road with refreshments afterward at the Olivet Christian Church on Whitesburg Road.
