Princess Anne – Marie Henderson Hitchens, 104, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022.
Born December 10, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Elwood F. and Mabel Porter of Princess Anne, MD. Marie was a Cub Scout leader, past president of the Firemen's Auxiliary. She taught Bible School, and Sunday School and sang in the choir at Antioch Church. She was an excellent bridge player. Marie lived a full life filled with church, music, dancing and playing cards.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 51 years, Henry J. Henderson who passed away in 1986, and her second husband, Howard Hitchens who passed away in 2002, and sister Helen Brimer who passed in 2021.
Marie is survived by her sons, Franklin Henderson of Bethlehem, PA, and Donald Henderson and his wife Beth of Salisbury, MD, two stepdaughters, Patricia Oakley and Fay Richardson (Bruce), five grandchildren, Kathryn Tauscher (John), Robert Henderson (Lisa), Garrett Henderson (Nancy), Scott Henderson (Dawn), and Marcus Henderson (Robin), eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Hinman Funeral Home, P.A. of Princess Anne, MD where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Dale Vroman will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Andrews Episcopal Cemetery in Princess Anne, MD.
