Margaret Boston Dryden departed this life Sunday, December 21, 2014, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Born in Jamestown, now present day Manokin, Maryland, on December 29, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Harmison Boston and Emma Walston Boston.
She is survived by her sons Orville G. Dryden, Jr. of Salisbury, MD and Ronald B. Dryden along with his wife Jayne, who was like a daughter to her, of Princess Anne, MD. A special niece Pat Klopp (Ed) of Princess Anne, MD, who Margaret and Orville took in and raised as their own. Grandchildren are Mark Dryden, Diana Dunn (Mike), Kimberly Dryden (Ronnie) and Jessica Dryden. Great-Grandchildren are Alexandra Dunn, Trenton Whayland and soon to be Addison Whayland. Also survived by nephew Todd Widdowson (Kim) of Princess Anne, MD and Anne Horner (Charles) of Westover, MD.
She is also survived by siblings Wallace E. Boston (Barbara) of Hampstead, MD and Betty Jane Briddell of Salisbury, MD. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years Orville G. Dryden, Sr. A sister, Ruth B. Wagner and brother Harmison S. Boston. In addition, a special nephew Charles H. Wagner, Jr., who she took care of for many years.
Margaret graduated from Swedesboro High School in 1943. She retired from Bell Atlantic Telephone Company after 32 years of service in 1984. She was member of Antioch United Methodist Church since 1946. Margaret was a charter member of the Manokin Chapter #109 Order of the Eastern Star and a charter member of the Princess Anne Lioness Club. Upon the dissolution of the Lioness Club, Margaret joined the Princess Anne Lions Club. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She volunteered for PRMC for many years after her retirement.
Margaret enjoyed spending time at the beach with her family and friends. For many years, she entertained her family on Sunday afternoons at her backyard pool. She was a quilter, an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles. Another favorite pastime was playing cards with family and friends. Christmas was her favorite time of year and she enjoyed her inside and many outside decorations.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014, at 2:00pm at Antioch United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 12:30pm to 2:00 pm. Interment will follow the service in the St. Andrew's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Antioch United Methodist Church, PO Box 297, Princess Anne, MD 21853, or Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
