Linda Taylor Wirt, 73, of Westover, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, service, and love that will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew her.

Born in Oxon Hill, Maryland, on July 18, 1953, Linda was the cherished daughter of the late George Frederick Taylor and Joan Marie Alsop. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clifton Wirt, on December 3, 2003.

A proud graduate of Washington High School's Class of 1970, Linda later earned an associate's degree in accounting from Wor-Wic Community College. She devoted many years of faithful service as office manager at T.T.I. Hydraulics before retiring.

To know Linda was to know a heart that found its greatest joy in caring for others. Her generosity was quiet but constant, and her helping hands seemed always to find those who needed them most. Nowhere was that spirit more evident than at the Fairmount Volunteer Fire Department, a place she dearly loved and faithfully served. Over the years, she gave of herself as a member, secretary, treasurer, and safety officer, never seeking recognition—only the opportunity to make a difference. Her compassion also reached far beyond her community through her faithful support of St. Jude Children's Hospital, and she found strength and fellowship in the congregation of Christ United Methodist Church in Fairmount.

Linda embraced life with a lighthearted spirit and a delightfully quirky sense of humor that made every gathering a little brighter. She found beauty in simple things—a garden in bloom, flowers kissed by the morning sun, the careful stitches of a quilt, or yarn transformed into gifts made with love. In her younger years, she delighted in the thrill of racing go-karts, carrying that same adventurous spirit throughout her life.

Above all, Linda treasured her family. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Kevin Long (D.J. Lopez) of Cambridge and Larry Elliott (Brittany Marshall) of Marion Station; her beloved grandson, Sawyer Whitehead; her devoted companion, Chuck Tolbert of Westover; her brother, Jimmy Taylor of Westover; her sister-in-law, Debbie Taylor of Fairmount; her niece, Nikki Mills (Robbie), and their children, Rowan and Michael, of Pocomoke; her Aunt Carolyn Rihanek of Lincoln, Nebraska; as well as several cousins and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by her love and friendship.

In addition to her parents and husband, Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Taylor.

Memorial services will be private at a later date.
