Snow Hill – Linda Foote King of here, departed this life on August 31, 2023 surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born in Baltimore on May 7, 1946, Linda was the only child of the late Lee Ross Foote and Ellen Ruark Foote Fitzgerald.

She was preceded in death by two foster sisters, Shirley Culbertson Outten and Mary Ann Wainwright and former husband Eric Rudert.

Linda is survived by her devoted daughter, Melissa Rudert Smith, and her son-in-law Scott. She is also survived by her aunt Leza (Lloyd) Cavey, cousins Rachel (John) Smith, Stephen (Karen) Guest, Bonnie (Steve) McNutt, and Diane (John) Bauer and many cherished extended family members and friends.

She was raised in Upper Fairmount, MD where she attended the Fairmount Academy and graduated from Washington High School in Princess Anne, MD. Linda received her bachelor's degree in social work from Salisbury Stated College and began a long career of public service. For many years, she was a social worker for the Worcester County Department of Social Service. Linda retired in 2006 as a social worker from the Holly Center in Salisbury, MD

Linda had many interests including playing the piano, painting, antiques, and traveling with her daughter. She was passionate about genealogy and proud of her heritage; her ancestors were some of the first settlers of the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

She was a past member of the of Christ United Methodist Church in Fairmount, MD. She was a member of the Somerset County Historical Society and the Fairmount Academy Historical Society.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday. September 11, 2023 at Hinman Funeral Home, P.A. of Princess Anne, MD where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Marellen Mayers will officiate. Interment will be in Beechwood Cemetery.
