Salisbury – Larry O. Tawes, Sr., 86, of here passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 26, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Wenona, MD on June 14, 1936, he was the son of the late Walton A. and Mae (Daniels) Tawes. Larry was a master woodcarver and boat builder, and avid hunter, fisherman, and oysterman. He sponsored a softball team in the Old Timers League. He was a member of Siloam House of Worship. He will be best remembered as being loving and kind.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Betty Lou Tawes, son Walton Tawes, and sisters, Edwina Parkinson, Gloria Benton, and Olive Donalds and brother-in-law, Captain Roland Parkinson.
He is survived by his children, Ellen Messick (Newell), Larry Tawes Jr. (Tina Louise), and David Tawes, six grandchildren, Erich Hupke, Jr., Sean Hupke, Aaron Hupke, Jaclyn Tawes, Larry Tawes III, Jessica Tawes, eight great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Hinman Funeral Home, P.A. of Princess Anne, MD where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Wicomico Memorial Park. Rev. Sonny Benton will officiate.
