Salisbury – Larry "Pops" T. Stewart, 75, of here and formerly of Deal Island, MD, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Tidal Health Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, MD.
Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Phillip E. and Frances (Hardesty) Stewart.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Daisey Stewart, children Timothy Stewart (Susan) of Severn, MD, Kelly M. Bandaru of Kissimmee, FL, Joanna Stino (Anthony), eight grandchildren, Amanda, Samantha, Sydney, Noah, Elizabeth, Joshua, Madeline, and Gavin, sister, Francine Stinehiser (Rich) of Greensburg, PA and sister Laura Stewart of Baltimore, MD and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Stewart of Washington, DC and son Bradley Stewart.
Larry graduated from college with a 4 year degree in Math, completed the ROTC program and was appointed 2nd Lt. USAR June 3, 1968. He was assigned to SQDN 5th Cavalry, 9th Infantry Division bound for Vietnam and completed his tour 12 June 1970 and relieved from duty 17 June 1970.
Larry was retired from the State of MD prison system where he taught furniture restoration to inmates and also retired from Acme Markets in Baltimore. He was an avid antique car enthusiast, furniture restorer, and hobbyist and loved to crab and fish all over the Eastern Shore. He was a lifetime member of the Fruitland Tony Tank Tribe #149 Improved Order of Redmen. He was a devoted member of St. John's Church in Deal Island, MD and loyal supporter of St. Jude's Children's Hospital, ASPCA, Christian Viewpoint Ministries, Mercy Ships, Created Equal and the local homeless. That devotion will continue will continue with Daisey.
