Kenneth Lee Hickman, 79, died on Monday, May 16, 2011 at Fauquier Memorial Hospital in Warrenton, Virginia. Born, May 8, 1932, in Princess Anne, Maryland, he was the son of the late Hargis W. Hickman and Mary Emma "Mamie" Dykes Hickman.
He is survived by his wife, Jutta E.. Hickman and three step-children, Marina M. Robinson and her husband Hunter of Raleigh, NC, Michele M. Triplett and her husband Chuck of Centreville, VA, Michael Manion and his wife Deanna of Centreville, VA. He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy E. Rooks of Salisbury, MD ,and Barbara C. Hill of Princess Anne, MD and his brother William R. Culver and his wife Dorothy of Princess Anne, MD. He was "Grandpa" to Hunter, Tyler and Shiloh Robinson, Andrew Triplett, Garrett and Trevor Manion. He leaves numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Ann Culver (Roger Culver), Margaret Louise Lipsett,( William Lipsett Sr.) and Kathryn Lucille Wilson (Jesse T. Wilson, Jr.)
He attended Washington High School. He enlisted in the Army in 1949 and served in the Army Medical Corps in Korea. Upon his discharge in 1952 he lived in Northern Virginia. His love for country music was special. He sang and played the guitar. For many years he worked in construction as a master plasterer. Before long he realized his career was in the automobile business and was General Manger of several dealerships. Just prior to his retirement, Mr. Hickman, purchases a farm in the Warrenton, Va. area where he and his wife raised cattle and enjoyed their home just miles from the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Services will be held at Perryhawkin Christian Church near Princess Anne on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 2pm. Rev. Jeff Coalter will conduct the service. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Perryhawkin Church cemetery .
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Perryhawkin Christian Church in care of Mrs. Delsie Beauchamp, 11094 Harry Riggin Road, Princess Anne, MD 21853.
