Kenneth W. Butler, age 66, of Allen, MD died at home on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, after a courageous battle with lung cancer, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife Dolores (Dee), of 45 years, a daughter, Jamison S. Post, a son, Matthew S. Butler, a special granddaughter, Madison B. Jesatko, who was the love of his life, a brother Joseph E. Butler, and last but not least his Alaskan Malamute Dr. Seuss and his many cats.
He was born on July 30, 1951 on Naval Axillary Air Station Chincoteague, Virginia and grew up on various Navy bases around the country, but he called Mt. Vernon home. He graduated in 1969 from Washington High School in Princess Anne, MD. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Inez Butler, a brother Webster Butler, a nephew, Austin W. Butler, and a niece, Emily F. Butler all of Princess Anne, MD.
He retired from Verizon after 35 years of service as a fiber optic cable splicer. After which, he went on to teach fiber optics to incoming Verizon employees across the country. He was a lifetime member of Telephone Pioneers of American and the Communication Workers of America (CWA). In addition to working for Verizon, he was a talented photographer and computer expert. Ken was also a member of the volunteer fire department in Allen, MD for many years.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Reverend David Michaud will officiate. A private interment will follow in the Webster Family Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, MD. at a later date.
