Princess Anne – Kathy Devaughn Stephenson, 74, of here passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024 Heaven called her home after the effects of a massive stroke she suffered on June 11, 2024.
Born in Salisbury on November 11, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Norma (Windsor) Devaughn. Kathy graduated from Deal Island High School in 1967. Growing up on the island, she loved helping in her grandmother's store. She did chores for her and made her special subs she always talked about. She worked on the family farm selling produce in the summer. Later in life, she would co - own a produce market on Rt. 50. After graduation, she began work at a finance company. At this time, she made her home in Sharptown, MD where she lived for 55 years. Although she had other jobs over the years her most important was being a homemaker and a mother. Her children and her family were everything to her. Kathy loved to read and listen to music.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brother, Helen M. Townsend, Karen R. Bates, and Kenneth Devaughn.
She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne B. Taylor, son Randy W. Bennett II, brother Pastor Jamie Devaughn and his wife, Suzie, grandchildren Morgan C. and Cain W. Taylor, great - granddaughter Lucy Mae Broskey, niece and nephews and several cousins. She also leaves behind her special friend of over 60 years, Judy Little and special friend cousin Ramona Corbett.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne, MD where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery in Wenona. Pastor Jamie Devaughn will officiate.
