KAREN RENEE' HOFFMAN

NORFOLK, Va.—Karen Renee' Hoffman, 41, formerly of Wenona, Md., departed this life on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at her home in Norfolk, Va. Born in Cambridge, Md., she was the daughter of Robert Allen and Juanita Faye Hoffman of Wenona, Md. She is also survived by her two sisters Robin Ford of Chance, Md. and Tammy Lessig and her husband Aaron of Princess Anne, Md. Karen's pride and joy was her two special nieces, Paige Ford of Dames Quarter, Md. and Madison Lessig of Princess Anne, Md. Other survivors include several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Karen graduated from Washington High School in Princess Anne, Md. in 1988, and from the University of Maryland in 1995. She was employed as a High School English Teacher for 15 years at Washington High School, in Princess Anne, Md. Sussex Central in Georgetown, Del., Arcadia High School, Accomack County, Va. Elmore County Public Schools in Alabama, and Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk, Va.

Karen was a member of the Church of God in Chance, Md., Women of the Moose Lodge in Salisbury, Md., and the teacher's union of the Norfolk Public School system in Norfolk, Va. One accomplishment she enjoyed the most was her students from Booker T. Washington High School winning the Scholastic Bowl. Karen was especially proud of her school and students. Her love for them and her teaching profession were her passion.

A Funeral service, officiated by Pastor Beatrice Johnson and Rev. Linwood Benton, Jr will be held on Thursday, March 10th. at the Faith Independent Church in Wenona, Md. at 1:00 pm, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Karen's colleagues and friends may also greet the family at Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne, Md. on Wednesday evening March 9th, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Interment will take place at the St. Paul's United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wenona, Md. following the service. A Celebration dinner in Karen's memory will follow at Safe Harbor Youth Center in Chance, Md.
