Obituary

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and lover of animals, June Mayne will be remembered by all for her gentle nature, kindness, and loving spirit.

Born in San Francisco, CA, June (Meyers) Mayne fell in love with Mt Vernon, Maryland native Robert Lee Mayne, while he was in the Navy. They met during "spotlight skate" at the San Francisco roller skating rink, when two spotlights shined down on them, prompting them to couple-skate. By the hand of fate, they fell in love, got married, and started a family in Salisbury, Maryland. The family grew under the unwavering love, joy, and kindness of June, who loved her family with no bounds.

June will always be remembered for her sweetness, patience, kindness, love of animals, and sense of humor. When you were down and needed a smile, she would sing a song, or dance a jig, or give a kind word that warmed your soul. The daughter of a pie baker, she inherited the ability to whip up a pie or two at any moment.  She was an excellent seamstress as well and made clothes for her kids, grandkids, and even her pets. Her love for animals was passed down to her children and grandchildren, who all believe that pets are family too.

As a teenager she worked at the grand Fox Theater, in San Francisco, and would often see celebrities like Frank Sinatra and John Wayne. Later in life, she was also known as a Brownie Troop Leader at Prince Street School. Then she worked at James M Bennett Jr as one of the Cafe Workers, making meals from scratch and serving lunches with a smile. She said she always served up an extra helping to any kid who was extra hungry. When her grandchildren were young, she watched them and other children in her home, often babysitting teachers' children. In retirement, she and her husband loved taking cruises, and taking the family to Three Little Bakers musical theater. Every Christmas, they hosted a Christmas Eve party that the whole family attended.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Mayne Sr, her brother Alvin Meyers, sister Velma Lehnnher, and grandson Robert Quentin Mayne.

She is survived by her children: Robert L. Mayne Jr and his wife Deanna, Sheila Mayne Edwards, and John M. Mayne and his wife Mary;  her grandchildren:  Stephanie Sharpe and her husband Adam, Justin Edwards,  Lehya Bailey and her husband Todd, Jonathan Brumley, and Angela Keyser;  great-grandchildren, River and Parker Edwards, Sky Sharpe, Marley and Owen Bailey, Hailie and Dradin Brumley, and Mason Keyser; and her grand-dogs Laredo and Dallas.
