Hoffman
April 7, 1925 – September 11, 2024
Julia "Alverda" Hoffman, 99, of Wenona, departed this life to be with her Lord and Saviour on September 11, 2024. Born on April 7, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Julia Horseman and Leon David Webster. She attended Somerset County public schools until September 1941 when she married the love of her life, Wilson Hoffman. They were married for 69 years until his passing in 2010. Alverda worked at Harry Wilson's Crab House, Campbell Soup Company, and Deer's Head State Hospital. She loved the Lord and was a member of the St. Paul's Church of Wenona. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. An excellent cook, she loved having dinners for her family always followed by games with her children and grandchildren. She was a dedicated Orioles fan cheering from her recliner and always fussing with the manager. She also enjoyed the friendships she shared as a member of the Somerset MAC Center.
She is survived by her childen Albert Hoffman and Ginny, Winston Hoffman and Sharon, Dianne Pizzaia, Julie Webster and Mark, and Kevin Jones. She has 13 grandchildren (Mandy, Sarah, Albert Jr, Lisa, Robin, Kim, Christina, Richard, Erin, Ryan, Lauren, Dusty, Caitlin) 21 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She also leaves behind a dear sister-in-law Janice Webb and longtime friend Deanna Horner and a host of nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Helen Jones and a son-in-law, Vic Pizzaia. Also preceding her in death are 3 brothers, Leon, Jennings and Clyde Webster; 4 sisters, Irene Bradshaw, Frances and Aileen Webster and Juanita Adams; and 2 step-brothers, Billy Adkins and John Bradshaw.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 16th at 2:00 pm at St. Paul's Church of Wenona with visitation beginning at 12:30 pm. The Reverends David Webster and Bob Daniels will officiate. In lieu of flowers, dontations may be sent to St. Paul's Church of Wenona, 9150 Deal Island Rd Wenona, MD 21821 and the Deal Island Chance Lion's Club, P.O. Box 58 Chance, MD 21821.
