IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Juanita A.
Green
July 19, 1926 – July 21, 2025
Princess Anne - Juanita Green passed away on July 21, 2025, 2 days after her 99th birthday. She was born on July 19, 1926, the daughter of Oscar and Rita Abbott of Deal Island, Md. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Edward Lee Abbott, Lewis Abbott and Clifford Abbott, her husband of 62 years, Howard Green Jr, her daughter Janice Lloyd Condon and grandson Robert Lloyd Ill. She is survived by her son,Doug Green (Lori) of Princess Anne, daughter Beverly Riggin (Sonny) of Salisbury, three grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Juanita graduated from Deal Island High School and later attended Goldie Beacom College. She worked a short time at Delmarva Power and Light. She married Howard on April 19, 1946 while he was in the then Army Air Corps and traveled with him to bases in Maine and Mississippi before settling back in Princess Anne to start a family. She was a long time member of The Manokin Presbyterian Church in Princess Anne.
Juanita loved family, a good deal, and antiques. Nothing was better to her than the big family dinners she hosted for decades. The Green house also seemed to be the gathering point of the Beckford Ave neighborhood kids while her children were growing up. In 1960 Juanita assumed ownership of the J. Arthur Powell Insurance Agency. The office was located on Main Street in Princess Anne, but after a few years she elected to move the office home so she could be at home for the children. Nothing was more important to her than family. She owned and operated the agency for 40 years, retiring in 2000.
Honoring her request, services are limited to a private graveside service only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Somerset County Historical Society, 11736 Mansion St., Princess Anne, Md. 21853 in her honor.
