Joseph Anthony Giza, Sr., 78, died June 22nd. at the Tawes Rehabilitation Center in Crisfield. Born March 27, 1934, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late John Stanley and Tillie (Danielak) Giza and was also preceded in death by his siblings Adam, Bernard, Anna, Rita, Josephine, Clara, John and Theresa.
Devoted husband of his wife of 56 years, Frances Mary (Turkiewicz). Loving father and father-in-law of Marie C. and Michael A. Tomek of Phoenix, John S. Giza of Westover, Joseph A. Giza, Jr. and Kimberly Stewart of Joppa, and Cynthia F. and Christopher DiBlasi, Jr. of Taneytown, Cherished Dziadzie of nine grandchildren, Kevin, Julia, AJ., Kelly, Kristin, Angel, Joseph, III, Nicholas, and Michael, and five great-grandchildren. Also survived by three sisters-in-law, several cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Mr. Giza retired as a dedicated Security Guard from Western Electric. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War and a Member in Good Standing of American Legion Posts 38 & 94. A resident of the Eastern Shore for over 23 years, he enjoyed entertaining family and friends, writing Letters to the Editor of the Daily Times, crossword puzzles, wood carving, fishing, and Crabbing.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, July 27, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Westover. Interment in Rumbley, Md.
