John F.
Maloney III
November 2, 1942 – April 11, 2026
John F. Maloney, III, 83, of Salisbury, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at his home.
Born on November 2, 1942 in Troy, New York, he was the son of the late John F. Maloney, Jr. and Ann Gaynor Maloney.
John proudly served in the U.S. Army and upon his discharge worked at the former Wayne Pump Co. in Salisbury. He worked 25 years at Sears, where he retired as service manager. Following retirement John remained active, working at Salisbury Steel, Kitty’s Flowers and most recently delivering auto parts for Pohanka.
A very active member of his community, John was a lifetime member of the Salisbury Elks and was a former member of the Allen Lions Club. He volunteered with numerous organizations and truly enjoyed helping others. For 40 years, he dedicated his time to picking up litter along his busy road in Salisbury. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors.
John was an avid sports fan who enjoyed playing recreational basketball, volleyball, bowling, and especially was an avid golfer. He had a passion for fast cars and loved watching NASCAR, NHRA, and drag racing; he even owned two Corvettes of his own. He was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees and Notre Dame football. In October 2025, he attended his first home Notre Dame football game with his great-grandson and grandson-in-law—a moment he cherished. When he wasn’t watching sports, he enjoyed reading and watching classic television shows.
Above all, John was a dedicated family man. A proud Pop-Pop, he could often be found on the sidelines cheering on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their sporting events.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Peggy Nelson Maloney; his daughters, Wendy Restein (Addison) and Kathleen Maloney; his sister, Maureen Hunemuller (Neal); his grandchildren, Joseph Restein (Katelin) and Ashley Monk (Jordan); his great-grandchildren, Cullen Restein, Eli Monk, Silas Monk, Jude Monk, and Sadie Monk; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jean Maloney and Thomas Maloney.
Funeral services officiated by Pastor Jamie DeVaughn will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Princess Anne where a visitation will be from 12-1PM. interment will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
