John F. Kencec, 71, of Eden, MD, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on Friday, June 13, 2025, with his wife Diane at his side at Johns Hopkins Hospital (CVS ICU). "…one day at a time…"
Born in South Park, PA on October 25, 1954, he was a son of the late John and Doreen (Munsky) Kencec.
John grew up in South Park and graduated in 1972 from South Park High School. He served for four years in the US Air Force as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician. Upon discharge from the US Air Force, he attended Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics and went on to work at Henson Airlines in Salisbury, MD. On June 7, 1986, John and Diane married and danced to "Could I Have This Dance for the Rest of My Life." John went to work with US Airways in Pittsburgh, PA and later retired and moved back to Salisbury.
John loved visiting his family cabin at Piedmont Lake, OH, riding his Harley, rebuilding his MGB's, and Di's 1965 Mustang. John also enjoyed his vineyard, making wine and moonshine. He was a member of the Wicomico Yacht Club, Redmen's Lodge, and he attended Antioch Church in Princess Anne, MD.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Diane Kencec; two brothers, Jeffrey and Jimmy Kencec; a sister, LaVonne Booth; sister-in-law, Molly Oechsli (Louis); brothers-in-law, Larry Preller (Melinda) and Tom Preller; and nieces and nephews, Christopher Preller, Saige and Tommy Oechsli, Louis and Chad Booth, and Molly Kencec Holabaugh. His nephew, Luke Booth, preceded him in death.
