Obituary

Jeffrey Carl Hahn, of Quantico, Maryland, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 21, 2024. He was born on January 3, 1945 in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, to the late Carl and Hilda (Matlock) Hahn.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 54 years, Anne (Kostenbader), whom he had known since childhood, and together they built a lifetime of memories. He is also survived by their children, Joel Hahn and partner Lesley Bishop of Seaford, Delaware, and Erin Hahn and husband Josef Behling, of Mount Airy, Maryland; grandchildren Rowan Renshaw and husband Cole, Caleb Hahn and fiancée Kaitlyn Adkins, Anna Hahn Villa, and Thalia, Edelina, Jasen, and Madelyn Behling. He defied the odds and with his trademark stubbornness, fought to hang on so he could meet his first great grandchild, Waylon Jeffrey, which he did shortly after Waylon's birth in September.  His grandchildren and great grandson were a source of immense pride and joy.

Jeffrey had a keen mind, loved to learn, and embraced several hobbies and passions. He had a deep love for reading, with a notable ability to recall content he read, especially history, despite the passage of time. He was a formidable Trivial Pursuit opponent, loved various logic and word games, and maintained a sharp intellect to the end.  He was an avid Formula 1 fan and watched his last race the day before he passed. Of all his passions, he will perhaps be most remembered for his skilled woodworking, having built many beautifully crafted pieces of furniture for the family during his lifetime. He was also dedicated to the happiness of his and Anne's two amply fed cats, Gene and Jax.

Jeffrey held an MBA from Salisbury University. Over the course of his career, he held human resource management and executive management positions in the manufacturing, fuel, and education fields, starting with Bethlehem Steel in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and ending in April 2024 with Apple Drugs in Salisbury, Maryland. His colleagues remember him as a smart, dedicated, and hardworking individual who was kind and generous with his time.

As a young man he was a member of the Army National Guard, 1st Battalion (mech), 109th Infantry.

Jeffrey was a unique individual and his life was marked by his integrity, intellectual gifts, his kindness toward others, and his love of his family and the things he held dear. The family will hold his memory close and keep him alive through the many stories of which he was a part, and which bring so much joy and humor to their lives.

Per his wishes, no formal services are planned. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Humane Society of Wicomico County or St. Jude's Children Research Hospital in Jeffrey's memory.
