Jean Phoebus Lynch, 89, of here , died March 24, 2012 at her residence in Princess Anne. Born in Oriole, Maryland, November 30, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Senator Harry T. Phoebus and Vera Beauchamp Phoebus.
She graduated from Washington High School in Princess Anne and Strayers Business School in Baltimore. She then moved to Wilmington, Delaware, where she worked as a medical secretary for Hercules Powder Company in Wilmington for ten years. Jean then married and had four children. The family then moved to Rising Sun, Md.
She returned to the workforce at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in 1974, then transferred to the Farmers Home Administration in Salisbury when she moved back home in 1978. She worked both in the Salisbury office and the Princess Anne office for 18 years, retiring in June 1996. She was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church in Princess Anne.
Surviving are her four children, Stephen T. Lynch, Jeremiah M. Lynch (Beth), Harry P. Lynch (Paula), and Nora E. Lawson (Dennis). Eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Laura, Gregory, Kyle, Rachel, Blair, Chelsea and Colin Lynch. A brother, I. Theodore Phoebus, her Sister in Law. Susan Phoebus, several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Joanie W. Bloodsworth.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Priscilla E. Phoebus (1920), Elizabeth P. Harvey (2004), a brother , Harry T. Phoebus, Jr. (2000), and her husband, Thomas H. Lynch (1988).
A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held Monday, March 26th. at 2:00 PM. at the Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, with interment to follow at a later date.
