Obituary

Janet Truitt Bedsworth age 84 of Murfreesboro, TN, formerly of Princess Anne, MD died September 15, 2021 at her daughter's home. Born April 26, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Richard Jerome and Elsie Watkins Truitt. She graduated in 1955 from Washington High School as valedictorian of her class. She began a fifty plus year career as a legal secretary working for local attorneys Edgar Jones, Alexander "Sandy" Jones, Tony Bruce and Jack Willing. She also sold Home Interiors (which later became Celebrating Home) for many years until her retirement. She was a well-known fixture at Priceless Flowers answering phones, taking orders and arranging inventory. It was during this time that her peanut butter fudge (both with and without nuts) became famous with her fulfilling many orders throughout the years. She also was well known for peanut butter balls (and Easter eggs) which she made and sent to her children, grandchildren and friends.
She was a member of Antioch Church for more than fifty years, where she taught second grade in Sunday School, was youth leader during her children's growing up years and sang in the choir.
She is survived by her children Juanita Boyles of Cambridge; Ed Bedsworth (Kathy) of Princess Anne, Vicki Miller (Kevin) of Westover and Lauri Marshall of Murfreesboro. She is also survived by her grandchildren Stacey Mende (Rob) of Cambridge; Heather (Brian) Elzey of Cambridge; Karen Willoh (Zac) of Grimes, CA; Tom Miller (Liz) of Westover; Stephanie Dixon (Dan) of Valencia, CA; Michael Marshall (Mary) and Katlyn Jones (John) of Murfreesboro, TN. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Joseph, Miriam, Chloe and Finn. She is also survived by her sisters in law Mary Horner and Cindy Aurelio; her brother in law, Bill Bedsworth; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was pre deceased by her husband, Thomas "Tucker" Bedsworth; her brother, Richard Thomas Truitt; her son in law, Sam Marshall and her great granddaughter, Maisyn.
A graveside service officiated by Pastor Steve Hands will be held on Monday, October 4 at 11am at the St. Peters Cemetery in Oriole. A reception will follow at Antioch Church Fellowship Hall in Princess Anne.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the mortgage reduction fund at Antioch Church, PO Box 297, Princess Anne, MD in lieu of flowers.
