Obituary

James Thomas “Tommy” Travers, Jr., 81, of Princess Anne, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2026, at his home.

Born in Salisbury on April 6, 1945, he was a son of the late James Thomas Travers, Sr. and Virginia Lee Donalds Travers.

He was restaurant manager for many years at the former Carroll’s Drive In.

A member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Chance, Tommy was a talented musician who enjoyed playing the piano for his community. He was featured many times with the late Rev. Dr. Raymond Chamberlain and the Delmarva Evangelistic Church’s “The Evangel Hour”, a locally produced television ministry program, and he enjoyed ministering in music at many local churches.

Tommy is survived by a brother, Rev. Danny Travers; a sister, Diane Hall (Howard); sisters-in-law, Rosemary Travers and Kay Travers; nieces and nephews, Barbara Dryden (the late Vick Dryden) and children Elisabeth and Amanda, and grandchildren, Carter and Amaiah; April Lynn Hall Benton (Art) and daughter Cassidy and granddaughter Paisley; Howard James Hall, III; Christina Kromer; Danny Travers, Jr. (Toni); Andrew Travers (Lindsay); Kayla Toothman (Phil); Neil Baker; Dr. Marion Travers, Jr. (Allison); and Russell Clary; and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry Travers, Carroll Travers, and Marion Travers; a sister-in-law, Claire Travers; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service in Rock Creek Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to a charity of choice.
