Obituary

James “Jimmy” Wallace, age 90, of Salisbury, MD, left this life to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. Born on November 13, 1935, in Dames Quarter, MD, he was the son of the late Norman I. and Bessie Daniel Wallace.

Jimmy graduated from Deal Island High School, where he enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, and soccer. After graduating he would continue his love of ball playing fast pitch softball competitively and coaching.

On July 14, 1956, he married the love of his life, Rachel Brittingham Wallace, and together they shared 64 years of devoted marriage, creating a family he was so proud of and loved.

A waterman at heart, Jimmy spent many years catching crabs and culling oysters on the Chesapeake. Later in life, he worked as a courier and drove for Lower Shore, a role he found deeply rewarding. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Ravens and never tired of watching or talking about his favorite teams.

Jimmy cherished time with his family above all else. Christmas was especially meaningful—gathering together to read the Bible Christmas Story and listening to “I’d Still Like To Go To Grandma’s House For Christmas.” He was a faithful member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Delmar, DE, serving as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. His church family held a special place in his heart. He was known for his generous spirit, positive outlook, and unwavering friendship.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rachel; great‑granddaughter Grace Phillips; brothers Orville Wallace (infant), Norman M. Wallace, Robert Wallace, and Irving Wallace; and sisters Bessie P. Wallace (infant), Dorothy Andrews, Elva Thomas, Helen Bloodsworth, and Betty Taylor.

He is survived by his daughters Tina (Mike) Phillips, Lisa (Glen) Palmer, and Angela (Ron) Mitchell; grandchildren Michael (Ashley) Phillips, David (April) Phillips, Bethany (Jason) Copeland, Raymond (Amy) Jones, Aaron (Erin) Jones, Joe (Katie) Mitchell, and Corey Mitchell; and great‑grandchildren Nate, Hope, Isabella, Abigail, Brielle, Madelyn, Derek, Trey, Brady, Aydin, Anna, Jay, Grant, and Elyse. He is also survived by his sister Peggy Hill and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Delmar Church of God of Prophecy, Rt. 13, Delmar, DE.
