James Carter Bolden, 71, of Princess Anne, Md., passed away peacefully in his home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 24, 2017. Born in Winchester, Tennessee on August 27, 1946, he was the son of the late Mary Louise (Wiggs) and Andrew Jackson Warren Bolden.
Carter was a member of the U.S. Army prior to moving to Princess Anne. Once in Maryland, he served his community as a police officer in Princess Anne, Md. from 1972-1986, serving as Chief of Police from 1986-1991. He was a K-9 officer in Snow Hill from 1991-1997 and finished his career in law enforcement as a K-9 officer in Crisfield from 1997-2003.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Nora Louise Gardner and Judy Bolden as well as father in law Robert Meredith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Robin Bolden, son James "Spikey" Bolden of Tennessee, two daughters, Stephanie Green and her husband Matthew of Gainesville, Florida, and Renee' Purdy and her husband Christopher of Pocomoke, Md., siblings, , Warren Junior Bolden, Jimmy Crawford Bolden, and Rickey Lee Bolden, and Candy Kwilos all of Tennessee. Carter was loved by his grandchildren, Suzanne, Amber, Dexter, and Stephen from Tennessee, Peyton and Riley of Florida, and Gabrielle, Kensington and Emerson of Maryland and several great grandchildren from Tennessee, special nephew Roger Gardner of Princess Anne, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was a life member of the Princess Anne Fire Dept. He enjoyed playing in many local softball tournaments, trips to Tennessee, Roanoke, Va. and Lancaster, Pa. He looked forward to family trips to Kings Dominion, the Richmond Zoo and babysitting for his grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, December 28, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Hinman Funeral Home P.A., 11673 Somerset Ave., Princess Anne, Md. 21853. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 29, 2017 at Hinman Funeral Home P.A.. Interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery. Reverend Jerry Hughes will officiate.
