Obituary

Chance - Jack Alvin Willing Sr. passed away on December 10, 2024. Born in Salisbury, on February 5, 1940, he was the son of the late Eldon and Cassie Shores Willing.  Jack was married to his high school sweetheart the late Barbara Ford Willing for over 50 years and was the co-owner of Scott's Cove Marina for over 40 years. Prior to owning this business, he had previously worked as a manager for Beta Shoes, was a foreman at Chris Craft, and worked as an insurance agent for Baltimore Life Insurance Company. In addition, he was a school bus contractor driving bus 41 for Somerset County Public Schools for over 40 years until his retirement in 2012.

Mr. Willing was a member of and served as the former treasurer of the following, Rock Creek United Methodist Church, Deal Island Chance Lions Club, and was a founding member and on the board of directors of The Skipjack Heritage Foundation.

He is survived by his two daughters, Cindy Anderson and her husband David, and Jackie Tull and her husband Keith. Five grandchildren, Bobby Kemp and his wife Sarah, David Anderson and his wife Adrianna, Brittany Nottingham and her husband John, Sarah Anderson, and Joseph Haymaker. Seven great-grandchildren Ellie and Jack Nottingham, Lillian, Brooks and Levi Kemp, Allison, and Alannah Anderson. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his wife and parents Mr. Willing was preceded in death by a son Jack A. Willing Jr. Esq., a brother Eldon Willing Jr., three sisters Dorothy Webster, Jane Ellis, Elsie Parks, and 2 nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne, Md with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Rock Creek Cemetery. Rev. Stephen Willing will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to either Rock Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Shirley Massey, at 23255 Haines Point Rd. Chance, MD 21821, or Ford/Bozman Family Cemetery Fund c/o Cindy Anderson 23465 Haines Point Rd. Chance, MD 21821.
