John Paul Briddell Jr. peacefully passed away at his home on March 30, 2018 at age 95
Paul was born October 2, 1922 in Princess Anne, MD to parents John Paul Sr. and Annie Bloodsworth Briddell. He is survived by two brothers William "Bill" Briddell and Edward "Ed" Briddell.
He has four daughters that he referred to as "his four Queens…which in his words "was a really good hand". They are: Christine B.Leo (John); Ann Catherine Briddell; Lisa B Murphy (Don); and Meg B. Barmoy (Eric). His grandchildren and great grandchildren: Jessica Murphy (Wyatt and Amelia Murphy); Lacey Leo Payne (husband Matt and children Bella and Liv Leo); Jordan Murphy; Lucas and Tori Barmoy.
He is preceded in death by his wife Margaret Ann Dryden Briddell and his brothers George Robert "Cotton"; Norman; James "Jim" and sisters Millie B Garber and Thelma.
Paul was a World War II Army veteran and advocated for many veterans through VFW Post 194. He worked for Southland Life Insurance Company for 38 years and managed the Pocomoke Branch until his retirement.
He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason for over 58 years; a Lion's Club member; a member of the American Legion Post 94 for 42 years; a Boumi Shriner and an Auxiliary Coast Guard member for over 30 years. He helped organize the Prostate Cancer Support Group through PRMC. He was a member of Bethesda Methodist Church.
Paul was a fisherman, hunter and active outdoorsman sharing his love of the Eastern Shore with his family and friends.
Visitation at Hinman Funeral Home will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, April 5, 2018 in Princess Anne, MD. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with internment at Beechwood Cemetary and a reception at the American Legion Post 94 following the service.
