Princess Anne – "King" Henry Chipman Flurer, 100, of Princess Anne, Maryland, gained his wings and passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by loving family on Saturday, January 27, 2024. Born in Greenwood, Delaware, March 16, 1923, he was the son of the late Harry and Hattie Francis Flurer, with the bonus raising by Miss H. Gertrude Flurer.

He graduated from the new Washington High School in 1940 with a class of 60. He attended multiple colleges and graduated with 217 credits and a degree in teaching industrial subjects. Henry started his career and married Betty Anne Butler. In 1950 he served in the US Army and retired, after serving two army combat tours in the Korean War from 1951 to 1952 in the 1092nd Engineer Battalion as a Combat Engineer Fort Belvoir.

After returning home, he continued his teaching career in Delaware and Maryland, retiring from the Wicomico County school system after 42 years and 25,000+ students later. No matter where he went, there was not a person he did not approach and say, "hey I bet I was your teacher or your parent's teacher" and most of the time he was right. Henry was so happy that he was able to guide so many students in this career and even prouder that he had perfect attendance as a teacher in his whole career.

Affectionately known as "King Henry," who had a passion for music and played in two bands, June and the Escorts and the Rhythmettes as a drummer. Over the years, he continued playing the drums at his home and just days before his untimely passing.

He enjoyed many hobbies, including stamp and coin collecting, craft making with Sheila, antique cars with his last being a 1950 Studebaker Land Cruiser, growing blackberries and cut flowers, and having a robust garden. He had yearly trips to Disney and fishing with Chris to the many house and farm repairs with Paul. He had a strong passion in the making of home videos to photography with the printing of thousands of pictures put into many photo albums, he was always ready to share his pictures with you, and with the sound of music from the past he was ready to swing onto the dance floor, along with never an old tool that he didn't bring back to life in the workshop. He is survived by a daughter, Sheila Flurer Evans, bonus son, Paul Curtis and his wife Jill, daughter-in-law Sally Flurer, grandson Brad Flurer, and two sisters-in-laws, Grace Vanname and Jean Outten, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special caregiver Eva Shaw. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Flurer, a brother, Charles, Flurer, sister, Rebecca Hopkins, and a son, Chris Flurer.
