Mt. Vernon - Helen Blanch (Jackson) Adkins, 85, of Mount Vernon, Maryland, passed away on November 4th at home surrounded by her family. She was born on December 24, 1939, to Russell Woodland and Dorotha Mae Jackson of Mt. Vernon, MD. She graduated from Washington High School and went on to become a serial entrepreneur. She solo managed several successful businesses over the years, from establishing and running one of Ocean City's first Bed & Breakfasts to managing and owning a hotel and rental properties.
Helen was a strong, steady, and reliable presence, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She took immense joy in bringing loved ones together for birthdays, holidays, and even the smallest of celebrations. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, antiquing, cooking, and playing dominoes. She especially loved laughing and "carrying on" with her family and friends. Her humor, and unwavering love created a sense of togetherness that will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, Russell and Dorotha Jackson; her sisters, Betty Jean Watson, Dorotha June Bozman, and her nephew Van Watson.
She is survived by her brother, Russ Jackson Jr., her daughters, Robyn Fox; her husband, Brent Fox, M.D.; and Joy Barker, and her grandchildren, Kayla Schell, Lucas Baier, Chad Bromley, Hope Sens, Faith Sens, Lily Barker; step grandchildren, Jessica Beatus, Karmen Fox, Nicole Sterzer, and nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating Helen's life will be held on November 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the John Wesley Church in Mount Vernon, interment will follow at Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
